Introduction: Bucket List Trip to Maldives, Rome, & Vienna

Trip Report

It’s good to be home! Earlier this month, my wife and I took on our biggest points & miles trip that either of us has ever done. As I said in an earlier post, we went to the Maldives, Rome, and Vienna, all of which are a bucket list for the both of us. We are absolutely exhausted, but it’s that good exhaustion after a great trip.

As part of this, I wanted to write up a review of all the aspects of my trips. I’ll be reviewing flights, hotels, and some activities we did in each location. My plan is to include the following in each post: what we paid for each experience (both points/miles & cash), the physical spaces, and any service we might have received.

I really enjoyed my time at the Park Hyatt Maldives!

I’m really looking forward to writing these up. To that end, I’ll review them in the order we order experienced them.

You should expect:

  • Qatar Airways A350 Business Class (IAD-DOH)
  • Doha Transit Tour
  • Qatar Airways 777-300ER Business Class (DOH-MLE)
  • Park Hyatt Maldives Week!
    • Location & Getting There, Cost, and Service
    • Park Hyatt Maldives Sunset Overwater Villa and Beach Pool Villa
    • Park Hyatt Maldives Restaurants & Food
    • Park Hyatt Maldives Activities
  • Etihad Airways A320 Business Class (MLE-AUH)
  • Etihad Airways 777-300 Business Class (AUH-FCO)
  • Palm Suites Rome
  • Tours of Italy – Colosseum & Vatican City
  • Park Hyatt Vienna
  • Austrian Airlines 767 Business Class (VIE-IAD)

As you can see, there are a lot of things to cover! Note that I won’t be not covering any lounges in depth or the short flight on Austrian Airlines between Rome & Vienna (although, it was actually quite nice).

Right after an overnight flight on Etihad at the Trevi Fountain. I was happy tired!

While writing this, I’ll intersperse some other non-trip related articles as well, as well as a couple of posts that aren’t mentioned above. Additionally, you can always come back to this post for a link to all the posts.

Conclusion

This was an absolutely massive trip, and I can’t wait to share it with you. Hopefully, you can see that points & miles can help you do some amazing things and inspire you to pursue it on your own!
