Andaz Miami Beach (The Confidante) Shares First Renovation Photos

Hotels Hyatt

One of my favorite hotels that could be booked with points was The Confidante by Hyatt. Located in the the Mid-Beach area of Miami Beach, it was a yearly ritual for about 4 years in a row that my wife and I would head down to Miami and spend at least 3 or 4 days at this hotel. We love it so much, we have a picture of it hanging up in our house! You can see my review of a weekend in Miami here.

Per the fire department’s orders, The Confidante closed back in March to continue extensive renovations to reopen as the Andaz Miami Beach in late 2024. To my knowledge, I was the first person to break the closing date for The Confidante. You can find that article here.

It was a sad day to see The Confidante close, as we really enjoyed it. I know that the Hyatt subreddit and Flyertalk had a love-hate relationship with the hotel. However, we have had nothing but great experiences, so we’re looking forward for the hotel to reopen as the Andaz Miami Beach. We love Andaz’s, having stayed at the one in Savannah and at the Mayakoba, so we have high expectations for the new Andaz in Miami Beach.

The Andaz Miami Beach Has Released First Pictures of the Renovation

We knew that the Andaz would focus a good portion of the renovation around the pool area. We don’t have very many more specifics what the pool will look like beyond this drawing.

However, we also know that the rooms will receive a facelift. On the former The Confidante Instagram account (renamed for the Andaz Miami Beach), the hotel has released their first photos of the room facelift on Instagram.

First photos of the Andaz Miami Beach suites

If you had ever been to The Confidante, you know that they really leaned into the modern retro-60’s Miami Beach vibe. Think lots of pinks, baby blues, yellows, and stripes all over the place, with mid-century modern furniture and fake grass around the pool.

This is giving quite a different vibe. The colors are much more muted, and the overall vibe of the room appears to have elevated the sophistication of the suite. I like the textured wallpaper and the detail behind the bed that goes from wall-to-wall. (I don’t even know what to call it.) The closet door is a bit edgy, and I like the wood floor and the rug. I could see the wood floor being a durable luxury vinyl plank (the hotel is on a beach!), which would more than suffice.

My only concerns right now (as we only have 2 pictures to go off of) are that the wood paneling on the closet will be that cheap wood paneling that you find in Holiday Inn Expresses. Additionally, are there doors to cover the whole closet?

My Thoughts About the New Andaz Miami Beach Design

Overall, the design looks good to me. To be honest, I really enjoyed the fun vibes of The Confidante. I know there was a really loyal following that loved The Confidante because of the decor, design, and vibe. Am I wrong to think that this hotel could possibly be a bit bland for my taste?

However, I really am looking forward to seeing the entirety of the renovation. The building itself is magical even without the interior design of The Confidante. It might just be because I haven’t experienced it in person yet that I am not as thrilled. I’ve seen some mock-ups of the redesigned lobby, and it looks beautiful.

Additionally, the staff was always great for us, and I hope that the service standards will be even more elevated. Finally, my current favorite chef, Jose Andres, will be having not just one, but two restaurants at the Andaz Miami Beach. I can’t wait for that!

I will continue to monitor this development as we get more pictures. Additionally, I absolutely plan on being down there to review the entire hotel within the first month of it opening to check out all of the areas myself.

Conclusion

The Andaz Miami Beach, formally known as The Confidante, has released the first pictures of its renovations. I am looking forward to the grand opening in late 2024!

What do you think about the new design of the Andaz Miami Beach? Does it look like a hotel that you would enjoy going to?
