Reflections on 2022 & Looking Forward to 2023

Travel Website Maintenance

What a year! I’d first like to thank everyone who has read the blog over the past year. It’s been a stop-and-go process, but I do plan on getting back into regularly blogging, as it’s a great outlet for me to think about points, miles, and, more broadly, travel. I learned a lot about writing a blog (which is way different than writing an academic article), and I learned a lot about just sticking with it. I even got one post with over 1,000 readers, thanks to Gary Leff over at View from the Wing thinking my article was worth a shout out. For all of that, I thank you.

It’s been a fantastic year on the travel front. I went to Austin several times to visit family, Kentucky, New Orleans, Charleston, Miami, New York, Boston, Madrid, and London (and anywhere within a 2 hour train ride to London). These were for both pleasure and for work, as I started a new job in April that has its headquarters in London.

In terms of my points and miles earning, I got to experiment with a few different products, including the Bilt Mastercard and with buying clubs as a whole.

After several years of only really traveling domestically due to the pandemic, I got to book some fun miles trips to London, as well as experimenting with using miles for upgrading with Aer Lingus.

I probably won’t be traveling as much for leisure this year, due to purchasing a home and planning for my next big trip (and I mean BIG) for February 2024. However, I do plan on diving headfirst into earning more points and miles, trying to figure out the best way to maximize every purchase I make.

Stay tuned to my continued blogging. I have a couple of posts in development already (like halfway written or so), and I plan on posting, at a minimum, once a week. I also hope to do a website redesign, as the current site was modeled in 2018 (yikes!).

I am excited to see what is in store. As always, if you have any questions or want help with figuring out your travel plans, don’t hesitate to reach out to me via Instagram (@professorofpoints) or by emailing me at ahunterthreadgill [at] gmail.com.

Thank you again everyone, and have a happy new year!
