Note: I don’t have a referral link for the Citi AAdvantage Executive Card. Check Doctor of Credit or Frequent Miler for the best sign-up bonus offer. You can find links by which I get a referral bonus of some points here.
Over the past week, I’ve received two offers for spending on my Citi AAdvantage credit card. One is issued by Citi itself, and one is offered by American Airlines itself. You should be able to get both of them! I’ll go over both of them in detail, as well as how to check whether or not you are targeted for them.
Offer from Citi Directly
Something that I always do, but rarely pays off, is check my junk mail. Every once in a while, I find something that’s quite useful. For example, one time, I got a survey with a $10 bill in it. The idea was that if they pay us up front, we’ll take the survey and send it back. (I know getting participants for a survey is hard, so I filled it out and sent it back.)
Monday, as I was going through the mail, I found a good piece of mail that will help me get 2,500 AAdvantage miles. If I sign up with the special QR code, I’ll get 5x AAdvantage miles for every dollar spent on online purchases through July 31st. You can get a maximum of 2,500 AAdvantage miles, which is $500 in spend.
I simply had to register by June 22nd. Additionally, the terms & conditions don’t mention if these bonus miles will earn loyalty points, but I suspect that they will not.
If you didn’t get any direct mail, you can also visit this link to see if you’re eligible. I don’t know how targeted this offer is.
Offer Directly from American Airlines
I personally got an email about this campaign. However, you can also check the Promotions section of your account to see if you’re targeted. You have to register by June 15th.
After registering, you have to spend $1,000 per month in June, July, & August. For each month that you spend $1,000, you get 1,000 bonus miles for that month. Thus, you spend $1,000 in June, you get 2,000 points (1,000 from normal spend and 1,000 in bonus points).
If you meet the spend goals for all 3 months, you get an additional 1,000 bonus points for a total of 4,000 bonus miles.
In total, if you meet the spending goal for all 3 months, this equals approximately 2.33 miles per dollar spent for the first $1,000 each month.
You do not get loyalty points for these bonus miles.
How to Maximize this Offer without Spending More than Necessary
Obviously, you have to hit the terms of the offer in order to earn the miles! However, there are strategies that we can use to make sure that we minimize the effort, as well as make sure we are generating maximum spend on other credit cards. There is no need to spend extra on American Airlines credit cards when there are tons of other bonuses out there to hit.
The easiest way to meet this offer is by purchasing giftcards from Giftcards.com. You can even go through the American Airlines shopping portal for even more AAdvantage miles. Additionally, if you are an Instacart user, Costco.com sells $200 Instacart giftcards for $160, which you can then use to purchase your Costco orders (and don’t have to deal with the chaos of checking out at Costco).
Conclusion
Check your mail, the above link, and your AAdvantage account to see if you are targeted with special promotions for bonus miles. If you’re not working on a sign-up bonus, it’s worth taking a look to see if you have this promotion.
