Park Hyatt Maldives Hadahaa Review: Beach Pool Villa

Trip Report

After we had arrived on the island, we took a golf cart to our first villa: the Park Hyatt Maldives Beach Pool Villa. We had redeemed points for this stay, but, as a part of my top-tier Globalist status, I was given a space-available upgrade at check-in to the Beach Pool Villa, so this review will reflect that.

Given how the villas are set up on the island, I was told that there are only 4 true beach villas (the lowest category of rooms that points-bookings redeem into) with about 20 villas being the beach pool villas, give or take. Thus, your odds of getting upgraded seem high.

For this particular stay, we were staying in Villa 20. This villa is one of the farthest away from the main facilities. However, it was less than a 10 minute walk to get to the other side of the island. If needed, they always had a golf cart a quick phone call away.

Upon arriving, we completed check-in formalities in our room, and our host Shahum (who quickly became a fantastic resource for us) gave us an extensive tour of our villa with tips and tricks to make our stay more comfortable.

With that being said, here’s my review of the Park Hyatt Maldives Beach Pool Villa.

Park Hyatt Maldives Beach Pool Villa Entrance

The entrance to this particular villa is up the left side. As you can see, you are surrounded by a canopy of trees and brush, so you really do feel like there is no one around you. We walked up the stairs and entered the room, which was about halfway down the villa.

You are not issued traditional hotel key cards here, but these rooms actively lock and unlock with a physical key. The key is attached to a sea creature keychain. Just FYI, if you are having an issue with the door, just pull the door handle towards you a bit while you unlock the door.

Additionally, instead of a traditional “Do Not Disturb” sign to put on the door, you are given a ribbon with something attached to it to wrap around the door handle. See the picture below for a better understanding, as I’m not really sure how to better describe it.

Once in the actual room, to our left was the actual room, while the bathroom was to the right. I’ll start with the room and then move to the bathroom and, finally, the outdoor area.

Park Hyatt Maldives Beach Pool Villa Bedroom

The center piece of the room was the king-sized bed. The bed itself was quite comfortable and had side-tables on both sides, as well as USB & electric plugs on both sides. The master “Island Time” clock was on the right bedside table, as the Park Hyatt Maldives is 1 hour ahead of Male (and wifi-enabled products typically don’t update automatically). There were also lamps on both sides and a ceiling fan directly above. The AC worked pretty well in the villa, but the fan was a nice touch to keep the room cooler.

As you can see in the picture above, in the corner closest to the beach were large floor-to-ceiling windows that allow you to see the outdoor pool. Within the walls were giant doors that came from each side and covered the windows, making the room very dark at night, which made sleeping great!

Also in that corner is a chair with a small coffee table, which was a great place to sit with a glass of water or coffee and read at the hottest point of the day.

The hotel put a bottle of sparkling wine in our room before our arrival. We ended up putting it in the fridge and taking it with us to the Overwater Sunset Villa and drinking it by our overwater private plunge pool.

The floor to ceiling windows on the end of the room were sliding doors that locked. These led out to the private plunge pool.

To the right of this sliding door was a TV. The TV gets a variety of channels primarily focused on the Middle Easy, but there were a few Western channels. It took us a bit to figure out the system with the remote. We ended up mostly just watching stuff on our tablets and read the news online, as we were actively trying to disengage from the news on this trip.

At the end of the bed was a bench, which we really just used to set stuff on, to be honest.

Going back from where you enter the room, across the room is a built-in table/desk/drawers that run the whole length of the room.

On the left side was the coffee maker, bottles of still and sparkling water, and the mini-bar. The mini-bar was stocked with complementary bottles of still and sparkling water (but cold) and a variety of cokes, liquor, and snacks for purchase.

Note that the Park Hyatt Maldives bottles all of its own water in reusable glass bottles, and those are free. If you run out, you can call for them to be refilled. Note that they replace your water bottles twice a day already. We never lacked hydration while at this resort.

Given that my wife and I were celebrating our 5 year anniversary, they had put a small cake in our room before we arrived to enjoy. It was delicious. As you can see, it also came with a candle, but we didn’t use it.

In the middle was a proper desk. They had your typical hotel items there: a pad of paper, a pen, etc. There was also a phone to call the front desk or room service if you want. We also had a very kind note from the general manager of the Park Hyatt Maldives, which was a lovely touch.

Finally, at the far end in a cabinet was an A/V receiver. We had brought a waterproof speaker to listen to quietly on our porch, so we didn’t even try to use it. (We listened to this artist the entire time to relax.)

Park Hyatt Maldives Beach Pool Villa Indoor Bathroom

Centered right behind the bed was the entrance to our bathroom. There was a short hallway which really just served as entrances to the indoor shower (left) and toilet facilities (right). Within the shower were bulk amenities that seemed high quality. There were also several hooks to place anything that needed to dry on around the bathroom.

Directly in front of the hallway was a giant table which held several towels, followed by the the door to the outdoor bathroom facilities. On each side of the door was his-and-her sinks. Each side was identical to each other, including a variety of amenities, down to individual trash cans on each side. Note that the water is a bit warmer than you’ll find in the US, even at it’s coldest (but Americans love icy water).

Once you pass through the hallway, immediately to the left and right were giant his-and-her closets. I’m a huge fan of unpacking in a hotel, and there was plenty of space to hang up and store all of my clothes and put my multiple suitcases up without feeling like anything was in the way. Within each closet was a safe, a robe, slippers, and emergency supplies (like a flashlight if needed). A beach bag and flip-flops are also provided.

Overall, there was plenty of space for everything we needed for an elegant, but functional, bathroom.

Park Hyatt Maldives Beach Pool Villa Outdoor Bathroom

Heading out the bathroom door, you come to the outdoor facilities. First off, let me note how these are completely private. You can be outside, and the walls are high enough that no one will see you. Furthermore, note that the Park Hyatt Maldives has banned drones on the island to help maintain that privacy.

In the middle of the yard is a giant planter with a walkway that goes around it. To your left is the outdoor bathtub. We mostly used it to dry clothes, and we didn’t turn on the water.

In the back is the outdoor shower. This water drains up by the wall, and the different soaps are the same as the indoor shower.

Finally, to the right is a proper drying rack (although it is small) and a bench and a small table. Again, we used it mostly for drying stuff.

Park Hyatt Maldives Beach Pool Villa Outdoor Area

On the other side of the entire villa are the outdoor areas. The highlight of this is a private plunge pool.

A couple of things about the pool. First, the water temperature is perfect. Second, there is a light to light it up at night. Finally, when getting in, it’s three steps and then a GIANT step. If you are running in (like I did on the first day), you can miss that final giant step and hurt your foot.

A flower had fallen into the pool one night

Immediately next to the pool is a giant built-in lounger. It was quite comfortable, and housekeeping did a great job of keeping leaves and other brush off of it that fell on it. We loved to use it to read, as it was big enough for both my wife and I with a ton of room to spare.

Next to the sliding glass door was an outdoor table with two chairs. There’s a light above it that makes it a good place to read at night.

Finally, there are steps that lead down toward the ocean. A large bowl is at the bottom of the stairs to dip your feet in after walking in the sand, which I found to be a nice touch.

Down by the beach were two loungers, a side table, and an umbrella. To be honest, when we sat down there, there was no need for the umbrella because of the tree canopy. I liked to sit there and read (we did a lot of reading).

This villa has direct access to the beach. However, if you want to spend time in the water, I do not recommend trying to get in right here. There were slippery rocks on our beach. I almost ate it when running in on our first day there. It is a gorgeous view though, and it definitely feels private. Use the main beach if you’re wanting to run into the ocean.

Note that high tide was around lunch, and low tide was in the early morning and mid-afternoon. The rocks will be covered in the afternoon, so be careful. It might be easier to get in in the morning.

Turndown Service

As I mentioned earlier, there is nightly turndown service. Here, they will replace your waters, make your bed (if you took a nap), and leave a little treat on your counter. Every treat we had was delicious and came with a little note card with either something new to learn or a motivational saying. I use them as bookmarks now.

Additionally, if you’re celebrating a special occasion (or even if you ask), they made some art with some leaves from the brush. They have a talented staff!

Conclusion

That is the Beach Pool Villa at the Park Hyatt Maldives. Overall, we really enjoyed it, and you will absolutely be happy staying in this room and not paying for an upgrade to an overwater villa if you so choose.

What do you think of the Park Hyatt Maldives Beach Pool Villa? Is this a place where you would like to stay?
